First Day of First Grade

Grace had her first day of school yesterday.  Last week we went to a new family orientation at her school.  We went on a tour, saw her classroom and met her teacher.  We also got to meet a classmate, who's name happened to be Grace.  It is a much bigger, newer school (K-6, with 500 kids!) than in Seattle.

Three neighbors go to Kinsner, they are in Kindergarten, 3rd and 5th grades.  We walked with some of them to school, which helped keep her distracted from being nervous.  She hesitated just a little before going into class.

When I went to pick her up she had a smile on her face, which I think means it was a successful day.  She had a lot to say about her classroom do's and don'ts'.  They get tickets for being good and can use them to buy candy or get something from the treasure box.  They put all their new supplies away, had lunch, PE, and recess, (they rotate music, PE, and art).  She also said she made a new friend (but forgot her name).  She didn't drink her juice box that was in her lunch because she wasn't thirsty and didn't use the bathroom the entire day!

She was excited to go again today.  I hope the enthusiasm lasts the entire year!
