We went on a great hike in a local park last weekend. It was only about 30 minutes away, but we felt like we were out in the woods. The trail was about 2.5 miles, just right for the kids. It followed a creek down to the beach (which you had to go through a tunnel to get to). We were all having a great time, until Grace fell on her stomach in the mud. She screamed!! It took a while, but she eventually got over it and managed to hike back up to the car.

Zachary's First Birthday!!
Last weekend Grace and I went to DC to celebrate Zachary's first birthday. It was great to see him at home and so happy. Grace loved playing with him and trying to make him smile. I think she really wanted to touch, kiss and hold him, but I wanted to keep the risk of giving him any germs to a minimum (we'll save that stuff for next year, when we hopefully live closer). Jerry (Daddy) has a blog for Zachary, if you want to check it out: http://apreemieinthewhitehouse.blogspot.com/
Pumpkins!
Time for another pumpkin patch. This year we wanted to avoid the crowds and picked a small animal farm/pumpkin patch just north of Seattle. We spent an about an hour looking at baby animals (chicks, pigs, goats, cows, etc) and then headed to the pumpkin patch a short walk away. The kids liked riding in the wagon and playing in the small play area.

Chasing Jake (video)
This is a short video of what Jake was doing while we were at Grace's race. The video is just over 4 minutes, but it actually took place over an hour. It was exhausting!
(it will open in this window, use Back to return to Blog)
Grace gets First Place!
Grace ran in a tot trot last week and came in FIRST! Okay, so there were only six kids, but one was an older and bigger boy!

Grace can read and write!
Grace is reading and writing better everyday, it's very cool to see. Last night she had fun making up sentences and writing them down. She thought of them herself, we just helped a little with spelling (she hates when she knows she spelled things wrong). She has great penmanship too!

Aren't They Cute!
Grace and Jake, for the most part, get along really well. They love to laugh and be silly. It is very entertaining, until somebody gets hurt, which always seems to happen eventually.
